Week Two

Module One students - A reminder that we have our re-scheduled session looking at the process of making the Claim for Recognition of Prior Learning today, Tuesday Sept 20, 5pm (UK). The session will be recorded for reference.

Module Two students you have your first session back today, 1pm (UK), an Introduction to the Module aims, intentions, expectations.

While the RPL session today is primarily for those in Module One this term, it is of course open to others in module two or three that may have outstanding claims to make this term and would benefit from discussing further.

Please do read through the RPL claim handbook prior to this session for clarity of the context and intention of the process itself. This is the process through which you claim academic credit for your prior learning experiences, some of which may be through prior accredited learning (PGCE or similar), others, the majority, will be through prior experiential learning.

A prompt for you here in thinking about how you might begin to reflect on experiential learning in your own practice from Dr Laci Coppins Robbins, visual artist and educator.

Look forward to hearing your thoughts later on in the session and through your blogs this week.

  1. Excellent video, really capturing the importance of an experiential classroom environment for students. I really think it helps shape a Learner's ability to imagine an application to the learning experience. It reminded me of the blog I posted today after reading a section of Moon in which she discussed cognitive accommodations in the learning process. https://jenniferagregory.blogspot.com/

  3. Thank you so much Helen for sharing this! It gave me such beautiful insight into ways to incorporate Experiential Learning in my teaching. I will start trying a few of these strategies out from next week, and I look forwards to see how my students will respond to it. Through my research project I am understanding more and more how crucial experiential learning & reflection is in pedagogy. Thanks for this! I wish you a wonderful Sunday!
