Module One

A lovely first session with new students joining the first module of study this term.

It was wonderful to hear you all sharing your experiences, your practice and so something of your self ...and what a rich international community we have...much to learn, many perspectives to be shared.

We spoke about the 2 parts of this first term of study:

The part you will attend to first is the Recognition of Prior Learning claim (portfolio)

before moving on the the Reflective Essay

The whole module is grounded in Reflective Practice and you are encouraged this week to read into some of the conceptual theories of reflection (module reading list on Unihub - use the Library search and type in your module code : DAN4510) and to engage in some autobiographical writing through your blog.

We use the blogs to extend the conversations of these sessions on zoom, do leave any thoughts and comments from the session here and link to your blog sharing your further thinking on anything raised in the session so that we can find each other easily.

Next week's session is focused on the process of the RPL claim and has been re-scheduled to Tuesday 20th 5pm (UK) to accomodate the UK bank holiday now on Monday 19th.

  3. Some fascinating discussions there about the sense of self in performance. Especially considering how much of a fine line we as artists tread when expressing confidence in our art and/or practice. How quickly do people jump in and judge any confidence as arrogance, and also how that works cross-culturally? I know the British sensibilities are a little more reserved than others, but holding on to that sense of self in our art and how we express it is a constant source of interest for me. So thanks to everyone that was there on the zoom and who helped to spark some deeper thought. Apologies I wasn't able to be there, but the timings of it are such that I am teaching at that time. As the time has altered for this coming week I am hoping to be there for this one.

My blog is also up and available for anyone to read the brief intro I have written so far. Look forward to reading more of people's blogs and thoughts as the term progresses.
